I have all my privacy settings set as public, but I still can't run a check.
Same issue for two more users. no privacy settings have been touched since last time when everything was working fine. However for some users the same challenge checkers are running fine.
hier nog hetzelfde vraag , ik sta meen ik openbaar en kom ook op slot dat ik niet verder kan
Dann lohnt sich für mich persönlich der Beitrag auch nicht mehr.
At least my own data should be visible to me and to my friends. Can't see why PGC has to be more restrictive  than Groundspeak itself. If this remains like it currently is PGC looses a huge part of the functionality I'm paying for. Does the remaining rest justify the existance of PGC in the future? Hard to believe...
Huh? This never ever was an issue before. It would be nice for Project-GC to clearly publish these changes well before they are implemented. See how many people are affected by this. It's not even considering that there are people who have very good reasons not to publicly disclose their founds …

A lot of people have this problem. I don't know what is going on.

If they don't revert this it's the end for a lot of caches. Or they are ignored by people they don't want that their founds are public. I really don't understand this.

This is because you didn't read the pop up you got. You need to have your founds public to be able to use the checkers. This was requested by Geocaching HQ.

When your founds are set to public it might take a while for the setting to take effect, like a couple of hours. You can try logging out and logging in again on Project-GC as it sometimes help. If it doesn't and you're still having the issue tomorrow you can contact support then.

Edit: Clarification

I have seen the Popup but was just not paying enough attention -- is it just the statistics Tab that needs to be open or Founds and Gallery etc. as well? I tried to find the text of the Popup again but failed.... as I have some privacy settings in place and just want to get clear what to adjust and where to ask GS maybe if they are sure what they are requesting

EDIT: just raised a topic https://forums.geocaching.com/GC/index.php?/topic/428815-project-gc-vs-hq-demanded-change-leading-to-errors/#comment-6237736
And why do they want this? What is the reason? 3 days ago this worked for me and I never saw a popup stating about a change.
I got the pop up as well and have reasons to keep my geocaching finds (not stats) private. I think this will have to be adjusted, as those like me with their stats private will not be able to even run the checkers for their own finds.
As this was at the explicit request of Geocaching HQ any feedback should be made in their channels and not here
Sorry, I wasn't clear in my comment. Yes, I meant it should be fixed by HQ. I have already commented on a thread over there.
I did not have any popup regarding stats. And besides non-premium gc-users cant enable any stats, because stats is only premium feature.
Sorry for sloppy wording, its "geocache found" that needs to be public
re" Yes, I meant it should be fixed by HQ. I have already commented on a thread over there."
@mrcanoehead224 would you mind posting the link where you commented there, so others can jump on as well. Thx
still- I did not get any popups. Tried logging in, out, opening different checkers, etc.
Think the popup appears only once. I was too fast and closed it before I got the impact of it.... trying to find the exact wording again without being successful at the moment
Tried to add comment there, but it says it needs moderator approval already for 2 hours. So my point is that a) the user him/herself should be able to run the checker notwithstanding the privacy settings; AND b) if the privacy is really a concern, the challenge checkers should be rewritten so that they do not return unnecessary info - only the relevant for the challenge - if the count is required, only count it is, not all the caches found with all the dates, etc.
However I understand that this might require re-writing almost all the challenge checkers and might not be such a good idea.
Then a workaround from GC or PGC side, would be to allow user to check for himself. Then at least user can post a proof in log or PM, that she or he fulfills the challenge.
@sursurs Your suggestions doesn't solve the actual issues so they just show that you haven't understood these settings. You're also suggesting something that would not be possible to enforce for 81k checkers.

Anyway, this change was requested by Geocaching HQ so feedback should be directed at them.
