What are Block Parties? Do they count as MEGA?

Question

I just have a question for all who love statistics: Will Block Parties count as Mega-Events?

Block Parties are Block Parties, they are their own icon and that's what makes them special. They are not Megas.

The linked checker does not include block parties and unless the CO asks to update it they will have no effect on the qualifications.

I don't see why that should be done. There were no changes made for community celebration events that were endlessly more used for stats by the dedicated hunters than block parties could possibly be due to the rules. Wouldn't really make sense to make big changes for soemthing that as far as we know is just a one time thing.

CCEs are included in the total of events for the social cacher badge. It would make sense to include Block Parties in the total number for the Mega Social Cacher badge. Though I'll be satisfied just to get the 6th add-on for my Geocacher badge!

I agree with OOTR here - I would also like to see BPs be classified as megas when it comes to challenges - I am looking to attending one in August in London and had hoped it would count as my 5th mega for a couple of challenges - since the CCEs got included as events in other challenges - surely because of the very nature of its limitation it could get included in among Megas since in terms of size thats what most will be.
The same with the genbadge badges - I am aiming for Diamond for the social cacher and just as CCEs are added in that number why not this limited version of a mega called a Block party be added on statistically as that :-)

and yet CCEs are CCEs - and they have their own icon which also made them special - albeit there were more of them (and will be again this year) but they did get included in among all the stats for the relevant events.
So arguing that block parties are separate and special (which no one is disagreeing with) does not answer why they can't be included in the various stats/challenges like CCEs were

Arguing about inclusion in _challenges_ is extra pointless. It's up to the CO to include them, not PGC.
